Do we really need a new Identity Card with biometric technology and our fingerprints on?

Why do you have to feel like a convict if you have nothing to fear?

I have nothing against the new ID card as long as it spares us the need to carry unnecessary documents all the time. Same for the cameras which have proven to have a direct effect on the criminality rate. Personally, I feel more secure with cameras because I know that there will be less chances of robbery or anyone attempting to commit some crime in the area.

Coming to the card, I haven't read much on the details about it but it will be interesting if they have include the driving license (and the useless copy of the driving license counterpart). And of course, make sure that the details included in the chip are extracted and put to use in a very near future in the related offices.

Taking your car for a fitness test at the Vehicle Inspection Centre

Good lol. Fortunately, you were 'clean' on police records for the past monhs :P

Definitely, there's clearly a lack of indication but since no one complained, I guess that everybody finally found their way :-)

Taking your car for a fitness test at the Vehicle Inspection Centre

Wait. Did you mean that you had no fitness from March 2013 to June 2013? Normally, he should be fining you or at least give you some sort of warning. I might be wrong but I know that vehicles which are correctly regulated like here, need the vehicle to be towed to the center for its inspection.

Now, coming to the inspection itself, I usually go there after 1pm or at around 2pm. There's less people and hence no time lost waiting. Everything goes so fast. Once, I reached there at 3pm and one of the guys working there was looking for a lift to port louis. He asked me if I could drop him and he took my papers to make the necessary so that I could get my car inspected immediately :P

Last point: On one of my visits, the officer asked me if "tone ammene l'enveloppe". I did not understand anything and replied him "non".
Later, I understood that he was looking for a bribe (dithé) but my car was in good condition, so he did not bother to explain to me what he wanted exactly lol.

btw, I get lost each time I go there. LOL!

The Mauritian Bloggers meeting at Bagatelle

I did move around and did not stick to one chair lol.
In a bloggers meeting held in Mac Do, shuffling around the table was compulsory and at the end of the meeting, you moved around and talked with everyone there, or most.
(And on that specific day, we were a group of 25 persons, (unofficially) reserving part of the Mac Do Port Louis just for us.)

Beware of unexpected bank overdrawn fees on your credit card

I never got this "limit" problem with SBM credit cards. Very recently, I was paying for a purchase and the transaction was rejected. I tried a few times because as per my calculation of exchange rates, the total was very near my limit but did not exceed it.
I called the hotline and got the problem checked. The lady on the phone explained to me that my purchase was slightly over the limit (perhaps by Rs100 or Rs200) and that's the reason why my purchase was not going through.

Fortunately, I had the option to choose a cheaper shipping alternative and my transaction went through, smoothly this time...

Change your bank, MCB are money s*ckers ;-)
The name itself tells you, a Mauritius COMMERCIAL Bank

Mauritius Telecom / Orange slow internet connection issues

Some time back, I changed mine too but reverted back to the MT ones once the problem was solved. But yesterday, I think that I have switched to Google DNS for ever and ever :P

Mauritius Telecom / Orange slow internet connection issues

When you read the comments, it is not really a "fan" page when we talk about the Orange Mauritius space on Facebook :P

I use Google DNS. Nothing simpler.
